From the President’s Desk:
The Gift
The truth about gifts is that they come in all sizes and colors. There is an old saying, “Good
things come in small packages!”
My wife and I just received a precious gift from our son and his wife; it was a beautiful
Cocker Spaniel pup. She was seven weeks old, a birthday gift to Diane and a blessing to both
of us.
The pup has quickly obtained “rock star” status in our household. She has stolen our hearts
and filled us with a joy we haven’t had for quite a while. Our grandsons are grown and our pre-
cious grand-daughter lives in Austria with our daughter and her husband as missionaries. Once
again we now have something to spoil, care for and, at the same time, something to train.
I have had several game dogs that blessed us both but. truthfully. more for me than Diane
since they were outside pets and hunting companions. This gift...well, this gift comes with no
expectations and no strings attached but to love and be loved.
To be honest, it is sobering to realize we have received a living gift, a gift that will, most likely,
outlive us. This thought suddenly makes our mortality more apparent. We have no fear. God
has blessed us with many years, a wonderful family, close friends and the glorious gift of Jesus
Christ to guide, direct and save us.
The pure love this small animal gives so freely reminds us of God’s love poured out for all His
children, regardless of statue, wealth, race or age. The devotion of this small creature is made
more precious when we feel God’s love manifested in us. We understand that we don’t earn
either but love comes as a gift from a loving and kind God.

it is the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8)
