synopsis first, I mean who wouldn’t. Then I went on to see the reviews of those that had already purchased this book that was nice (or mean) enough to let the world know what they thought about it. The first few reviews were four and five star reviews. Now, that, I could believe because I’ve purchased several books by this author before and never is there a dull moment when reading them. Then I came across several one-star reviews. I couldn’t believe it. So of course I read the reviews for myself. If I were to be completely honest with you, if those review had been posted before the other ones were, it would have been that I would have not want to purchase the books after reading such reviews. results were astonishing. Take a few minutes to read some of the exerts of this conversation: Now I’m not saying that all negative reviews are the work of those that like to discredit or discount (sabotage) others work, or that all goods reviews are truthful and/or honest, but what I am saying is that both instances are happening more so than we would like to think. So that led me to ask these questions: Are authors cheating the readers or are they being cheated? Are authors deceiving the readers or are they being deceived? This inquiring mind wanted to know, so I did a small case study, which included two writers and two readers. The All: (R1 and R2 stand for readers 1 and 2; A1 and A2 stand for authors 1 and 2) DM: Hello everyone, thanks for participating in this conversation. I have assigned each of you a letter and a number which will correspond to your responses and statements in the upcoming article. I know that three of you wanted your actual names published but if you want the world to know who you are then you will have to post it on your facebook and twitter pages because this column is going to be anonymous. Are we all clear? Yes. DM: Good. If any of your lines should lose a signal or if any of you should get disconnected for any reason, you know the access code, just call and rejoin the conversation. Are we good? All: Yes. DM: Okay, so let’s get started. I guess my first question would be for the authors: Have either of the two of you felt or know of your work being sabotaged in any way, shape, fashion, or form. 10 | P a g e
