Letter from the President

Hello friends … It ’ s the most wonderful time of the year and we are happy to bring you another issue of Destination Ozarks . The holidays are a time of joy and celebration for everything we have to be thankful for , and there ’ s no better place to celebrate than right here in the Harrison region .
This issue is dedicated to showcasing our community as your 2023 destination for holiday shopping , and we are extremely grateful for the support of our incredible advertisers and their support for our community . Your commitment to this magazine and our Chamber of Commerce does not go unnoticed and we thank you for that ! We encourage our readers to explore the products and services offered by these businesses , which not only support our local economy but also foster the spirit of entrepreneurship that is such an important part of our past and present . When thinking about your holiday shopping lists - consider our friends and neighbors whose livelihood ( and that of their employees ) depends on the support of people like you . Research has shown that for every $ 100 spent locally , $ 68 of that money is cycled back into our economy in the form of payroll , business materials , taxes … As opposed to only $ 43 spent at non-local businesses . Your shopping decisions are not just transactions ; they are the lifeblood of our community . So , as you flip through the pages of this magazine and learn more about the businesses , services , and products available in our community , we encourage you to consider them and our other local establishments when shopping for your holiday needs .
An ancient Greek saying that has found me recently and reminds us of the power of personal responsibility : “ If your doorstep is clean , then your city will be clean .” What would be the impact if each one of us decided to source all of our holiday purchases locally ?
Thank you and stay blessed .
