Residents of Boone County formally pass the millage tax forming North Arkansas Community College . A governing board is commissioned later that year along with the hiring of first college employee , President Bill Baker . In April , the South Campus is completed , and all classes move there .
1973 Northark ’ s Continuing Education program has expanded into six counties , 13 towns in Northern Arkansas and has an enrollment of 534 students . In May , the first graduation ceremony occurs at North Arkansas Community College . The ceremony takes place at what is now the Sundial Parking Lot . Forty-three students earn their Associates degree .

Pioneer Pavilion opens to Pioneer games , state and regional basketball tournaments , and various community events

North Arkansas Community College opens its doors for the first day of classes in what today is known as the Eagle Heights Elementary School Building . The college fields teams in men ’ s and women ’ s basketball , volleyball , and baseball . Teams practice at local schools .

George H . W . Bush joins Congressman John Paul Hammerschmidt to dedicate the John Paul Hammerschmidt Business and Conference Building and Northark Fountain on the South Campus .
North Arkansas Community College and Twin Lakes Vo-Tech College ( founded 1967 ) combine to become North Arkansas Community Technical College , later changed to North Arkansas College .
