The climate in India is very diverse becasue it is considerred by some to be a sub-continent. Almost 1.3 billion people live on the peninsula. Most of the southern region is occupied by the savanah (orange) or the tropical monsoon (blue) climates. This part of India gets very hot in the rainy season because it is so close to the equator. Also, cyclones from the Indian Ocean are common in south India. India is neighbored by Pakistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. In the northern parts of India,

the climate is varied by, Humid Continental, Mediterranean, Steppe, Desert, and Highland.

In the early stages of the world, all land was together and was called, "Panama." As this land began to break apart, other giant chunks of land were smashing together (very, very slowly of course). As the Indian Peninsula started to make contact with modern day China, it created the largest moutain range on earth, the Himalayas. Now, most of the moutains are found in Nepal, including the largest on earth, Mt. Everest. But there still are some mountains in India. This is a video on "Trekking in the Indian Himalayas 2012."
