Antalya
Sueno Golf Club
– Dunes Course
A visit to the Sueno Golf Hotel balcony
overlooking the club’s two golf courses
might be the best place to start when
you visit (or stay at) this impressive
resort. From here you get a taste of the
challenges that lie ahead, especially the
proximity of water to greens.
The name of the Dunes course is a clear
reference to the tumbling fairways that
rise, fall, twist and turn across this treelined landscape. They are like a wild ocean
swell and finding a flat lie is a challenge.
This was very much the intention of PGA
Design Consulting, which designed both
Sueno courses. Opened in 2007, the Dunes
was created to be both strategic and
entertaining, and while it may only be a
par 69 it is actually a touch trickier than
the Pines alongside. With water appearing
on 10 holes, seven tricky doglegs and
nine holes under 350 metres, it all comes
down to placement off the tee. After
that, a smart short game will be the key
requirement if you are to score well.
There is room to play between the
rippling tree-lined corridors and the
Dunes is accessible to golfers of all
abilities. The 362 metre par four 18th
offers an island green for a grandstand
finish.
