Salobre( The New Course)
The new course was built in 2008 and renovated with new tees in 2018. Designed by Ron Kirby, the course has evolved over the past few years. In October 2022 nine holes of the NEW course reopened( holes 1,2 and 3 as well as 13 to 18) according to the master plan of David Williams: an experienced golf course architect. One of the main goals of Salobre Golf’ s Master Plan is the sustainability of its courses and a better overall experience. The opening of the course will be completed in two phases: The first one started this October 2022 with the reopening of the 9 holes with PAR 36 which can be combined with the OLD Course offering 3 different golf circuits. It has a special design and unique landscape, you need a good strategy to get good results.
Maspalomas Golf
The majority of Gran Canaria’ s golf courses are in the south of the island, which is one of the sunniest areas in the world. Here we can find the breathtaking Maspalomas Golf, surrounded by a nature park of sand dunes, a protected area of more than 400 hectares, with views of the Atlantic Ocean, palm trees and fine golden sandy beaches on the horizon. The dunes which surround the course are a feature incorporated into the design by Mackenzie Ross. Long and flat, with wide fairways, the proximity of the sea and its gentle breezes make this course a pleasant experience, thanks to the alizé winds. Maspalomas Golf celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2008, a memorable event attended by Green Jacket winner José María Olazábal.
Salobre( The Old Course)
Opened in 1999, this is one of the oldest on the island in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The 18-hole Par-71 course was designed by Roland Fauvré, in close collaboration with Robert Trent Jones. It blends in with the topography of the area and local vegetation, where some 600 different species of plants and trees have been put in. The course, with a wide variety of holes, is very enjoyable for all levels of golfer. Different heights tees, generous runs and small greens are its hallmark. Its par-3 holes stand out as the most demanding, especially the 11th that is the course’ s most well-known hole for its difficulty and its stone surrounds. The manicured greens contrast with the rugged desert landscape, creating a tranquil oasis in which to enjoy a round of golf.
