Real Golf Bendinat Santa Ponsa
The original Bendinat 9-hole course, designed by Martin Hawtree, opened in 1986. The second nine holes were added in 1996. Close to the city of Palma, Bendinat is in the Calvia municipality and is set in a valley. Many of the tees are elevated, and most of the fairways are tree lined and have severe slopes. The difficult greens then add to the challenge the Bendinat course offers. The undulating and varying terrain gives the golfer the opportunity to use all 14 clubs in his bag( the maximum!). The views over the Bay of Palma from the course are spectacular to say the least and the flora and wildlife around the course add to the experience.
Opened in 1977, Golf Santa Ponsa I is a Par 72 with a total length of 6543 meters, with the 10th hole being one of the longest Par 5’ s in Europe. The course covers an area of 73 hectares and is a long course with lakes and a great variety of trees( olive, pine, almond etc). It appeals to all kinds of players thanks to the wide fairways. Golf Santa Ponsa I stands out as one of the most important courses in Mallorca, hosting many national and international competitions. It has hosted the European Tour on six occasions, with famous winners such as Ballesteros( 1988 & 1992) and M. A. Jiménez( 1998).
Son Servera
The second oldest golf course in Mallorca, Son Servera Golf Club was opened in 1967 and was designed by John Harris. This 18-hole 6,050m par-72 parkland course has generous fairways but demands accuracy off the tee as most of the fairways are narrow and tree lined, with water coming into play on six holes. In particular holes 3 to 7, as they weave through Mallorcan Pines to test your skills. It also calls for the ability to read greens well as they are full of subtle undulations and are very fast at times. After enjoying the signature‘ Pine Trap’ holes and taking in the stunning sea views, the newly renovated clubhouse is the perfect place to end your experience.
Pula
Situated in one of the island’ s most beautiful and peaceful spots, Pula Golf Resort offers a PGA European Tour golf course and Old Manor House Hotel that dates back to 1581. Pula Golf was founded in 1995 and completely redesigned by José María Olazabal between 2004 and 2006. It has been transformed into a long, demanding course, par 72 of 6,246 m featuring water hazards, two lakes and a river. Facilities include a large driving range on two levels, two putting greens, a pitching green, a golf academy, a club fitting centre. Golfers can stay onsite in their suites, complimented by an outdoor swimming pool and restaurant.
