Atalaya NEW Atalaya Old
The Paul Krings designed New Course was opened in 1990 and offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean and Gibraltar and is regarded as one of the most natural courses on the coast .
Set in the hills above the Old Course , the course rewards accuracy off the tee . A number of the fairways and greens feature slopes and elevation changes , requiring careful shot selection . A fine test of golf for all levels of players . Wildlife abounds throughout the course , including the lake on the picturesque 4th hole and there is a natural wood in the centre of the course , featuring cork oaks , olive and carob trees .
La Zagaleta
Opened in 1968 and designed by the renowned golf course architect Bernhard von Limburger , Atalaya ’ s Old Course is one of the finest golf courses on the Costa del Golf . The wide and generous fairways undulate gently between mature trees and flowering shrubs providing shade and colour all year round . Ideal for walking , the undulating contours of its many elevated greens challenge even the best of short game experts . After your game , relax in the clubhouse terrace overlooking the course and with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside and the impressive “ La Concha ” mountain .
Santa Maria
Zagaleta New Course was designed in 2005 by “ Gaunt & Marnoch ”, who took care of every detail to create a recreational and private space that merges with nature in an 18-hole course with beautiful obstacles and doglegs . Only here , in such a magical setting , can you see deer and fallow deer , among others , only a few metres away while hitting the ball . Without a doubt , it is an evocative and exclusive space from top to bottom . To complete the experience , the course has an elegant Club House with a large terrace and views of the vast countryside and its beautiful lake .
Based around an 18th century “ Cortijo ” which is currently the Club House , Santa Maria boasts stunning gardens and fine leisure facilities including tennis and lawn bowling . Set amidst unparalleled beauty of the Andalucian countryside , the course traces the contours of two valleys in which the natural vegetation , streams and four lakes form natural hazards . The course is not long but full of interest and with each hole having it ’ s own character . Many of the tees are elevated and the views from the 10th hole to the 16th are breathtaking on a fine day . Santa Maria is not only considered one of the most exquisite Golf and Country Clubs on the Costa del Sol , but also one of the friendliest . The addition of a newly built 10th hole in 2020 increases this course to Par72 .
