An American style layout it is long and spacious, four lakes provide hazards at eight holes and with over one thousand trees it is not short of shade. Novo Sancti Petri, boasting that ‘Severiano knew what he was doing’, forms three loops of nine holes, starting and finishing at the clubhouse. With a wide variety of sporting facilities including horseriding, football and tennis, the club is very popular and has played host to the 1990 Codorni Spanish Professional Championship won by Santiago Luna, and the 1993 Turespana Masters Open de Andalucia won by Andrew Oldcorn. Cadiz » Benalup Benalup, which opened in 2001, is a pioneer in the sense that thanks to the vision of owner Bernard Devos the Andalucian golf trail now opens across country in the virgin territory of the ‘Ruta del Toro’ between Jerez and Sotogrande . Benalup, in fact, sits at a crossroads also reached from the Atlantic coast at Chiclana. The result is that more developments of this nature are to be expected in the area. Lomas de Sancti Petri course was been designed for the famous golf architect Manuel Pinero, one of the best golfers in the 80’s (previous Spanish Open Champion and Ryder Cup Player). Lomas de Sancti Petri course is a beautiful challenging course, in a gorgeous natural environment. It is the perfect course to practise your skills, as its only 4767 metres in length. That said, the fairways and not very wide and you must use good course management to score well. The course is irrigated with recycled water, respecting the environment. Cadiz » Montenmedio Dehesa Montenmedio is part of a 300-hectare estate blessed with an abundance of pine trees and cork oaks, and wildlife such as eagles, deer and foxes. The Montenmedio course was designed with the club golfer in mind – a Par 72 of 5,930 metres. It features many bunkers and water hazards, but the fairways are wide and experts say the greens are among the best in Andalucía. The course is particularly challenging when there is a wind blowing. Montenmedio prides itself on the local restaurants and there always is a wide range of exotic and local gastronomic delights on offer at Montenmedio. 47
