Cabopino Golf Club
Andalucia » La Duquesa
Wrapped around El Hacho beacon hill overlooking the
Mediterranean to Africa, La Duquesa is one of the most complete
clubs on the coast, with tennis, squash, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, bowls,
yacht harbour and, of course, golf. In true Trent Jones style it is
a demanding club with abundant vegetation, difficult rough and
large greenside bunkers, requiring concentration and straight
driving. The front nine starts off eastwards then double back
to finish with a long par five. A pretty hole is the 4th, a par four
which may interfere with your card. At the spectacular 17th, just
129 metres from tee to green but 30 metres straight down, beware
of the wind especially if the Poniente is blowing from the West.
The 18th, a par five, finishes in front of the clubhouse where the
green is bordered by a large pond inhabited by ducks and geese.
Andalucia » La Noria
Opened December 2003, this nine-hole par-33 course combines
precise holes as well as others encouraging bigger hitting. La
Noria is completely flat and includes four bridges connecting
tees, greens and fairways. Shots to the green are a real challenge,
as they are well defended by three lakes and a creek that passes
through the course forming the layout´s ‘spine’. La Noria Golf
Resort is located in the La Cala valley, a short distance from
the beach.

Andalucia » El Paraíso
Originally developed by Belgian ex-colonials from Zaire this
Gary Player designed course is now owned by club shareholders.
El Paraiso is very popular on the coast with both residents and
visitors due to reasonable rates, a friendly atmosphere and weekly
competitions. Don’t be surprised if you hear a few Irish accents in
the bar! The well laid out course offers wide fairways, which are
bordered by heavy rough and divided by streams, many of which
are out of sight. The 7th hole, a par three, is regarded as one of
the most difficult, requiring a great tee shot over water to the
green which is guarded by two bunkers. The 13th and 14th holes
are memorable for their large trees and lakes. The clubhouse is
sited at the heart of the course and offers relaxing, unpretentious
surroundings in which to unwind after the round.
Andalucia » Cabopino
This new course was opened in April 2001 and designed by Juan Ligues
Creus. Located at the eastern extremity of Marbella offers a layout
lined by pines, jacarandas, acacias, olives and other trees. It features
a modern design and is a challenging par70 test of golf. The course
benefits from the irrigation of recycled water from a plant close by
so at times you might find a course that is firm and challenging. The
golfer has the chance to use all fourteen clubs while enjoying superb
Mediterranean views. The hole everybody talks about it the par 3
third, which has an impressive 200 metre drop off the cliff face. They
also have great training facilities through the Ayermich Golf School.
