On behalf of the team , it is my pleasure to present Destination Golf Scotland 2023 , which is our annual guide to showcasing Scotland ’ s premier courses .
Scotland is widely regarded as the home of golf , a legacy that has spanned six centuries , so there is no finer place to play a round of golf or spectate at some of the world ’ s most prestigious tournaments .
Scotland has more courses per head of population than anywhere else in the world , with over 550 courses to choose from . Here you can play links golf on stunning courses with beach and cliff features , high on mountain tops , on the edge of lakes or through dense forests . The range and breadth of Scottish golf courses means that whatever your level and course preference , you ’ ll never be far from fairways and greens suited to you .
In this guide we have chosen one hundred great golfing options for the travelling golfer but keep an eye out for our “ recommended ” logo , which we think you will particularly enjoy this year .
In preparation for this Guide , our teams have visited all four corners of Scotland . On the West coast , the stunning Ayrshire coast always impresses . Here you can play courses like Prestwick , Western Gailes , Kilmarnock Barassie , Dundonald Links and Irvine , before going inland to Glasgow .
If you fly into Edinburgh , head East to the plethora of golf courses in East Lothian , known as Scotland ’ s Golf Coast . Here you will find Championship venues like Gullane and North Berwick , but you should also consider the less well-known courses like Longniddry , Royal Musselburgh and Glen .
In Perthshire and Heartlands region , you will find the courses of St . Andrews in Fife , and other Championship venues like Carnoustie . But if you visit this region , find time to play courses like Forfar , Blairgowrie , Dukes and Dumbarnie Links . You will not be disappointed .
The courses around Aberdeen offer incredible parkland and links options , like Newburgh on Ythan or Trump International Aberdeen . And further up the road past Inverness you will find the Highland courses , where you can follow a James Braid Trail route or bulk buy three round deals from Highlands Golf Escapes .
