Royal Melbourne and Victoria for example . So that ’ always somewhere I love going back to play .
DG : What is your favourite course in Scotland ?
CM : My favourite course has always been St . Andrews . I played amateur events for many years and was fortunate enough to be made an R & A Member this year . With Covid I have not had a chance to travel to play there yet but I love it – it is just the atmosphere there . It does not matter if it is January or July , there ’ s always people milling about and watching . I think 1st tee shot , then 17 and 18 are great . I think it is one of the few courses you go to that looks the same when you are playing it as on TV . Quite often you go to a course with the stands and things up that make it look quite different , but when you go to St . Andrews you recognise it from TV .
DG : And what are the golfing highlights of your career ?
CM : There are a few . Obviously winning at Royal Lytham in 2009 and the Solheim Cup at Gleneagles . Also , my first Solheim Cup win at Barseback in Sweden or my win at the Irish Open in Killeen Castle . I guess you always remember the wins !
DG : Thank you for your time today , hopefully we will see you in East Lothian one day in the future . Myself and my Editor Kevin Markham are regular visitors to the area , and I am due another go at hickory golf at Kilspindie .
CM : Absolutely , hopefully you get some trips over here later this year . Thank you .
