Golspie
The course is one year older than neighbouring Brora , but they are quite different in style and layout . Golspie combines links holes flowing over bumpy , unpredictable terrain , right above the sea , with heathland holes further inland . The two are divided by a ridge which runs parallel to the sea , while the 6th hole combines the best of both . Your drive from just above the beach takes on the ridge dead ahead and you ’ ll undoubtedly swing too hard to reach the upper level . Shot-making varies considerably both between the styles of hole and between the holes themselves as gorse and pine trees abound . Golspie was designed by James Braid and it has some glorious flourishes . The par three 10th may be the signature hole but the back-to-back par threes on 16 and 17 promise a dramatic and tough finish .
