Fairmont St Andrews (Kittocks) Fairmont St Andrews is a five star resort boasting 36 holes overlooking the acclaimed golfing town of St. Andrews. It makes it a golfing haven and the views over the North Sea and River Tay estuary are spectacular, too. The Kittocks course has been designed as a modern day links with magnetic pothole bunkers and two striking double greens (the 5th/7th sits right above the ocean)… a tip of the hat to the Old Course. After a smooth start, the thrills quickly build as holes move to higher ground and cling to the low cliffs and coastline, as well as manoeuvring their way around a deep fissure. Known as Kittock’s Den, this cuts through the landscape and is a striking feature on the four holes where it appears. It makes those cliff-top holes all the more dramatic. Kittocks is wide and open to the elements but you need to be on your game with out of bounds and the stone walls testing your accuracy on numerous occasions. It is enjoyable, testing and quite beautiful. The only other thing you need to remember… is to play the Torrance next door. 47
