Terceira Golf
Built in 1954 by members of the American Air Force near Angra do Heroísmo, Terceira Golf showcases the Azores’ natural beauty with undulating fairways, towering Japanese Cedars, and colourful azaleas and hydrangeas. Black volcanic sand bunkers and tightly guarded tree-lined holes make accuracy essential. Managed jointly by the Regional Government, the Azores Air Zone, and the American Command, Terceira offers a challenging yet picturesque round for visitors.
Designed by Cameron & Powell, Batalha is a 6,435-metre course set on volcanic slopes near Ponta Delgada, named after a historic battle site. The youngest course in the Azores, it features dramatic black bunkers, elevated greens, and scattered stone ruins that add character. A third nine-hole loop and a spacious clubhouse overlooking the ocean enhance the experience, making Batalha a vibrant addition to golf on the island.
Furnas Golf
GOLF COURSES Originally built in 1936 and updated by Cameron & Powell in 1986, Furnas Golf is an 18-hole, 6,232-metre layout known for its strategic design and stunning surroundings. The two nines blend seamlessly, featuring small, challenging greens, towering Japanese Cedars, water hazards, and black sand bunkers that add contrast and drama. Located 40 minutes from Ponta Delgada, Furnas hosts the annual Sata Azores Open alongside Batalha, attracting international golfers to this beautiful island setting.
