Perfectly complementing the Faldo course, the Christy O’ Connor layout offers a distinctly different challenge. The rich, fertile valley soil contrasts sharply with the dry hillside of the Faldo course. Throughout the course, various water features, including lakes and streams, require accuracy and skill from every golfer. The lush topsoil has been expertly landscaped and adorned with mature palm trees, creating a vibrant, oasis-like atmosphere. These water features also serve as a sanctuary for local wildlife. Holes 7, 8, and 9 are particularly notable, as they are cleverly protected by one of these lakes. While it may initially appear to be there purely for aestheticappeal, it is, in fact, a strategic challenge. Locals refer to this stretch as the“ Amen Corner” of the course. The course is designed with tees that are generally aligned with the fairways, but its overall distance, water hazards, and large greens present a significant challenge. Golfers will also need to carefully read the subtly contoured putting surfaces, which are a key feature of the course.
