PORTO E NORTE Porto e Norte is a region full of history, charm and character. It provides tourists with a unique scenery in a mountainous area, boasting wonderful natural parks, sloping hillsides, and the powerful waterways. The city of Porto is the second largest city in Portugal, after Lisbon. Its core industries are shipping and trade, owing to the Douro River. The ancient city of Porto is a world heritage site, boasting Romanesque chapels, baroque churches, historical monuments and twisting steets. It also is the much celebrated home of Port wine, from which its name is accredited to. Boat trips on the Douro River are very attractive and interesting for tourists, as you observe the vine-filled Douro valley that will eventually be cultivated in world-famous Port wines.
