LISBON (OESTE)
This region is fondly known as the ‘land of sea and vineyards’.
Located around 1-hour north of Lisbon city, the Oeste region is maginficently picturesque with white houses, maritime coast, green
countryside and a very pleasant climate. Powerful wind generators tower above the small villages, maximising the use of strong prevailing
winds. The region boasts unique activities not to be missed such as the Thermal Baths, the ‘wine & vineyards route’, the medieval city of
Óbidos, and the surfing capital of Peniche.
The Castle of Óbidos is now recognised as a Pousada, and often acclaimed to be the most romantic of all the stunning Pousadas in
Portugal. Other visits should include the Roman Aqueduct at Obidos and the Fort of St. John the Baptist. There are countless cultural
and tourist-oriented events in this region, with the Chocolate Festival being one of the most popular.
