Portsalon Golf Club was founded in 1891 and was a founder member of the GUI . One of the best , oldest and most beautiful links courses in Ireland , the course is located on the breathtaking Fanad Peninsula in County Donegal . In 2000 , a major redesign of the links was undertaken by renowned architect , Pat Ruddy . The course was lengthened and nine completely new holes were added .

North West Golf Club
The North West Golf Club is a truly spectacular golf links set on the Inishowen Peninsula of Co . Donegal . The links can trace its history back to 1891 , when , along with eight other clubs , it became a founding member of the Golfing Union of Ireland ( G . U . I ). With a layout measuring almost 6400 yards , the course presents a very modern challenge to every golfer . A memorable experience is guaranteed for all visitors on this jewel of a links , where fast running fairways and slick fescue greens will test every club in the bag . The views are stunning and this is part of Ireland ’ s acclaimed Wild Atlantic Way . A visit in 2017 is a must for any lover of links golf .
