Football legend Peter Schmeichel will captain a Celebrity team of sports stars against Paul McGinley ’ s Pro Golfers at the 2017 Abu Dhabi Invitational . Schmeichel will be joined by his former Manchester United team-mate Dwight Yorke , as well as other footballing greats Ruud Gullit , Ronald de Boer , Roberto di Matteo , Gabriel Batistuta , Hasan Salihamidzic and Liam Brady at the award-winning Yas Links from January 28-29 , 2017 . A ground-breaking cosanctioning agreement between the LET and LPGA has been reached that will see Dundonald Links host both the 2017 men ’ s and ladies ’ Scottish Opens whilst elevating the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open to the highest prize fund event on the Ladies European Tour outside the Majors . The initial three-year deal , brought together by the LET and the LPGA in partnership with title sponsor , Aberdeen Asset Management and key partner , VisitScotland , will see the event transition from a Pro-Am format to an individual stroke-play event with a stellar field and strong global media exposure .
The world ’ s best golfers are expected to converge on Portstewart Golf Club next July as reigning champion Rory attempts to become the first golfer to successfully defend his Irish Open title since Colin Montgomery won back to back tournaments at Druids Glen in 1996 and 1997 . Aside from ‘ Monty ’, only four other golfers have won consecutive Irish Open titles , including the legendary Seve Ballesteros ( 1985-86 ), Welsh wizard Ian Woosnam ( 1988-89 ), England ’ s Mark James ( 1979-80 ) and Sir Nick Faldo who won an unequalled three tournaments in a row from 1991 to 1993 .
With six months still to go to the 6th annual Asia Golf Tourism Convention ( AGTC ), the event recently received its 200th registration . Established in 2012 by IAGTO as an annual networking event for its Asia Pacific members , ACTC has now become pivotal for IAGTO golf tour operators across the globe looking to extend their product and expand sales to golf destinations throughout the region . Approximately 70 % of the attending golf tour operators or ‘ buyers ’ will be from Asia Pacific markets . The 2017 Convention heads to the award-winning golf and beach destination of Danang , in central Vietnam , next May having previously been staged in Malaysia , Thailand , China , and Indonesia .
