Travel News As a massive worldwide event, The Tall Ships Races Lisboa 2016 will once more reaffirm Lisbon as Atlantic Capital, the gateway to Europe. The crew members and visitors will learn more about the city’s past on the sea but also its future, taking advantage of its geographic position, the central role of the region and areas related to the sea and the ocean. In 2016 the Tall Ships Races will start in Antwerp, Belgium on the quaysides of the Schelde. Following the first race leg trainees will be welcomed by sun in picturesque Lisbon, Portugal from where Portuguese navigators set sail more than 500 years ago. The fleet will then race to Cadiz, Spain to find warm beaches and a typical Spanish fiesta in this historical city. Following the success of this year’s triumphant Walker Cup team, Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club has marked the historic victory by awarding honorary life membership to one of the heroes of the GB&I squad. Jack McDonald became the third Barassie member to lift the trophy when the team regained golf ’s blue ribbon amateur event at Royal Lytham & St Annes in September. The recognition is especially significant as this is only the ninth time in 45 attempts that the GB&I team has won the Walker Cu
