Blainroe

This high quality parkland is perched next to the sea and falls into distinct halves. Themore level holes lie close to the clubhouse and play alongside the sea while the more inland holes( 2 to 8) slide across and around a hillside, peering down on the sea and holes below. There are some daunting doglegs on these hillside holes, compounded by the slopes, so golfers need to pay attention as positioning off the tee is crucial. The short par four 7th plays steeply down towards the sea, promising a big, delicious drive that never seems to end, and it is followed by a sharp downhill par three.
Then you return to level ground and the calm, intelligent routing of the closing nine, with a strong finish that starts with the signature par four 14th, which drives over the cliffs and clings to them until you reach the green. The par five 18th does the same. In between are two superb par threes( 15 and 17), which show off Blainroe’ s beautiful green shapes and the sparkling new bunkers, introduced in 2022 / 23.
FAVOURITE HOLE
The par three 17th plays towards the sea, a sweeping putting surface entrenched amid the bunkers, with only water beyond … or so it seems.
WHAT’ S IN THE BAG?
You’ ll need to avoid the upgraded bunkering. Designer Marc Westenborg has greatly enhanced their strategic value. They also better suit the course and the playability of holes.
