TOURISM IN DUBLIN
Ireland’s capital city has many unique characteristics
with a vibrant, friendly atmosphere. It is famous for
being known as one of the most welcoming cities in
the world.
It is the variety within the city that holds the biggest
appeal, catering for everyone, both young and old.
There is a natural feeling of community, energy, and
a contagious appetite for fun, and Dublin is filled
with laughter, music and great conversation.
It always leaves you wanting more.
Dublin was founded on the River Liffey by the
Vikings, in 841 A.D., and the city embraces that rich
sense of history. Famous landmarks include Dublin
Castle, Trinity College, Croke Park and Kilmainham
Jail, to name a few. Guinness was first brewed at St.
James’s Gate, in 1759, and the Guinness Storehouse
is one of Ireland’s most visited attractions. Why not
enjoy a creamy pint of Guinness in the Gravity Bar
over-looking Dublin’s skyline. It’s a stunning sight.
Getting around Dublin is easy, with numerous tours
and public transport systems. Some of the best ways
to experience the city include the hop-on-hop-off
bus, the Dublin bus network and the Luas (tram).

If you prefer to walk there are plenty of literary
walking tours and, in Trinity College, the famous
Book of Kells awaits.
Within the city itself there are several architectural
styles embracing the ages, from the medieval
quarter to the Georgian quarter to the new tech
quarter, located in Grand Canal Dock. Combined
with all of the pubs, cafes, restaurants, parks and
shopping hubs, there is always something to do or
somewhere to go. Temple Bar is renowned for its
live music and its fun-loving, carefree atmosphere,
but if it’s a more authentic taste of Dublin you’re
after then the Bull & Castle or Porterhouse pubs
offer an excellent range of craft beers.
The DART (train) offers visitors an opportunity to
see Dublin’s magnificent coastline and seaside
towns such as Dalkey, Dun Laoghaire, Howth
and Malahide, just a stone’s throw away from the
city centre. Dublin is, of course, home to many
fantastic golf courses including Luttrellstown
Castle, The Island, Portmarnock and Royal Dublin.
This city is a unique place… it is home to many but
an adopted home to all.
