Visitors to Ireland will regularly hear the phrase ‘Cead Mile Failte’ – translated
as one hundred thousand welcomes. We are renowned for our warm
hospitality, as well as our breathtaking landscapes, but when you speak to an
Irish person about golf, it extends further than merely the game: it’s a passion.
Over the years, Ireland has produced many golfing legends, Ryder Cup heroes
and Major winners. We have built a reputation for being able to stage global
golf events like the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup, and Ireland is a regular
destination for European Tour, Challenge Tour and Ladies Tour events.

and you’ll find Ireland boasts designs by modern greats such as Nicklaus,
Palmer, Norman, Montgomerie, O’Connor Jnr, Hawtree, Howes and Ruddy,
and legends of the past, like Colt, Old Tom Morris, MacKenzie and Braid. Irish
courses take golfers on a special journey through meadows and forests,
around lakes and loughs, up high on mountain tops, on the edge of terrifying
cliffs, and through giant dunes along the coastline.

has provided his Top 150 list while Travel Writer of the Year 2015, Eoghan
Corry, tells us about the leading attractions and Ireland’s well-known “Craic
agus Ceol” phrase which can be heard in pubs, on street corners, and even in
people’s homes.
For me, it is all about the special charm and unique experiences that this
island offers the travelling golfer.
