Glen of the Downs
The beauty of Glen of the Downs is hidden in each individual
hole. This may not have a beautiful appearance, flowing as it
does over an open, bare landscape on a gentle hillside… but
Peter McEvoy’s design placed the emphasis elsewhere, allowing
extensive bunkering and superb green complexes to set the
tone. Given its openness it plays almost like a links and there
are certainly opportunities to play the ball low into greens. The
putting surfaces are excellent, with some big tiers, and you’ll find
considerably more shape to the course once you’re out there
playing it. The five par threes may be most memorable of all but
this is a day to set the driver loose. Views of mountains, hillsides
and sea all day long and a great bar/restaurant to return to.
