IAGTO member Golfasian present their current take
on the impact of COVID-19 on golf business to and
within Southeast Asia below. “There is still significant
uncertainty with the virus, its control, and statistics. I

Royal Spanish Golf Federation’s is located within the city
limits of Madrid and has a perfect location, 10 minutes
driving from the business area of Madrid City Center
and easy access. Opened in 2005, has been host to the
Madrid Masters 2009, Spanish Open 2007, Challenge of
Spain 2006, and the Spanish Open 2018.
CYPRUS: Almyra
Renovations
Almyra – one of the chic-
est and sleekest hotels in
the Mediterranean and a
member of Design Hotels will undergo an extensive
renovation this winter. The hotel, which occupies
eight acres of beautifully landscaped gardens at the
heart of Paphos’ seafront, will be closed from 2nd
December 2019 and will reopen 1st March 2020 to
reveal its multi-million euro refurbishment.
Japan’s Mie
Golf Tourism
Organization
takes its Golf Tourism Promotion to the Next Level
and relaunches website
Mie Golf Tourism Organization (MGTO) has been at
the forefront of Japan´s international golf tourism
promotion for the past 5 years under the visionary
management of Shizuho Suzuki. Mie Prefecture also
hosted the very first IAGTO Japan Golf Tourism
Convention in Shima in 2018 and since have been
striving to offer the golf tour operators everything all
the USPs to make it a successful long haul golf holiday
destination. With the Summer Olympics being held in
Japan this year, the timing is perfect!
Renovations of Spain’s Golf Son
Vida right on track
Golf Son Vida is currently closed
for phase 2 of its extensive
renovation project of bunkers and
tees. Last winter of 2019 we closed
the course in January and February for the start of the
project, and this year 2020 we are finishing it. These days
we are filling the bunkers with the new sand of silica,
certified by USGA, Golf Son Vida being the first course
on the island using this type of sand. We are right on
track to open on the 1st of March, and we are looking
forward to welcome all the golfers to the renewed and
improved course, to enjoy a wonderful round on the
oldest golf course of Mallorca!
