NAU Morgado Golf.
course of the NAU collection, Salgados Golf, is
only a short 20-minute drive away. Each NAU
course has a clubhouse with changing rooms,
golf shop, bar and restaurant. Any with sun
terraces on offer at both clubhouses, they make
for the perfect 19th hole after a game of golf in
the sun.
NAU ALAMOS GOLF COURSE
If you get a morning flight like we did, there
is plenty of time for lunch and round 1 on the
day of arrival, which is exactly what our golf
hungry group did. We checked in, had a quick
club sandwich and took off to Alamos Golf.
Designed by European Golf Design and opened
for play in 2006, this 18-hole par-71 course is an
ideal course for your first game. It’s shorter than
its big brother across the road but it a technical
course that requires course management and
accurate approaches to well-guarded greens.
The setting is impressive, with some special
elevated holes with superb views towards the
hills of Serra de Monchique, lakes and farmland.
It is a nice walk, but our group did go for the

golf cart option so we could relax and get into
holiday mode.
We dined in the resort buffet later that evening,
which had an excellent choice and lovely
Portuguese wine on offer. The pool table in the
hotel bar also became a focal point for some
fun games.
After a relaxing morning and a dip in the pool
after breakfast, we took on Morgado Golf for a
midday teetime.
NAU MORGADO GOLF COURSE
Designed by European Golf Design and opened
for play in 2003, this 18-hole par-73 course is a
real treat to play. A true Championship course,
it has played venue of the Open de Portugal for
the last few years. Some holes will have a links
feel with flat fairways and bunkers of Scottish
inspiration, but its a few kilometres inland. The
fairways are generous, rough low, and multiple
choice of tees means that golfers of all levels
