Tourism
& Golf
The Pyrenees are a rugged mountain range
which forms a natural line of over 400Km
which acts as a natural border between France
and Spain. Stretching from The Mediterranean
sea to the Atlantic sea, the mountain range is
popular all year round.
The peaks are snow covered throughout the
winter months, while hikers and walkers avail
of the stunning natural terrain throughout
the summer months. In fact, the Pyrenees
are often regarded as the finest destination
for hiking around Europe. Due to its extreme
nature, the mountain range provides unique
flora & fauna, jaw dropping lakes & waterfalls,
and jagged peaks with incomparable views.
In the middle of the Spanish and French
Pyrenees is the independent principality of
Andorra, which is globally recognised for its
ski slopes. There are 3 golf courses in Pyrenees
& Andorra – Fontanals Golf, Real Club de Golf
de Cerdanya and Aravell Golf. Founded in
1994, Fontanals is situated 1150m above sea
level with scenery that is second to none with
peaks touching almost 3000m in altitude.
The Peugeot Golf guide listed this course
amongst the top 11 in Europe and it’s not
hard to understand why. The Royal Golf Club
of Cerdanya is situated 1km from the town
of Puigcerda. It also has stunning views with
immaculate fairways flanked by pine, poplar
and fir trees which offer incredible landscapes
to the player. Aravell is a testing Jose Maria
Olazabal course , with water coming into play
on various occasions in the form of a river and
lake.
