DESTINATION GOLF ASIA 2023
Black Mountain
Black Mountain
Winner of numerous awards including one of the 100 best golf courses in the world , Black Mountain ’ s 27 holes was transformed from lush jungle and pineapple plantations and is around 25 minutes from Hua Hin . The course looks as natural as possible with small creeks and many elevated tee boxes and greens . They added a new nine holes in 2016 as the West Course . Their clubhouse has excellent facilities including a fine dining restaurant overlooking the course .
Chiang Mai Highlands
Located approximately 45 minutes ’ drive east of the City of Chiang Mai this award-winning 27-hole course is very popular with golf vacationers . Designed by American Lee Schmidt in 2005 , this is a true Mountain layout with breath taking views , fresh air , high elevations , over 130 bunkers and some tricky undulating greens . It has deservedly won many awards including Asia Golf Monthly ’ s Best Golf Resort in Asia in 2015 . A good challenge for golfers of all levels .
Red Mountain
Converted from an old tin mine and opened in 2007 , it is considered one of the country ’ s most spectacular 18 holes . British designer Jonathan Morrow has cleverly weaved the layout through some incredible landscapes making it the hilliest course on the island . Here you definitely need a golf cart . Around each corner are some unique holes , even their par 3 17th is literally down an old mine shaft . A very memorable round of golf to be experienced here .
Santiburi Samui Country Club
People love to relax on this tropical island which only has two golf courses . Santiburi Samui is perhaps one of the most photographed courses in the region as it sits atop a hillside on Koh Samui ’ s north shore overlooking the clear blue sea of the Gulf of Thailand . Tight palm tree-lined fairways with both uphill and downhill greens make this a very interesting and challenging 18 holes , where you will need a few extra balls in the bag for sure .
