The tropical Railay Beach in Krabi , Thailand , with a traditional long boat . just under a 2-hour drive . Known for its nightlife , this region also hosts the greatest variety of the finest championship golf courses in Thailand and is naturally a golfer ’ s paradise . Because of its close proximity to Bangkok , this provides an ideal setting for an easy twocenter break .
Hua Hin - is located on the western side of the Gulf of Thailand and is around three hours ’ drive from Bangkok . It was Thailand ’ s first beach resort , and today it is still a thriving fishing village . Golf is in abundance here with many fine and challenging courses providing much variety .
Chiang Mai is located in the northern region of Thailand and is one of the oldest cities in the country . It is easily reached by a flight of about one hour from Bangkok . Visitors today will find themselves in a world that is unchanged for centuries , and where traditions and way of life remain the same . Here you will find around fourteen courses including mountain and country-style layouts .
There are also excellent courses located in other regions including Khao Yai , Kanchanaburi , Samui , and Chiang Rai .
WEATHER – WHEN TO PLAY Thailand enjoys a tropical climate with three distinct seasons - Hot ( April-June ), Rainy ( July-October ), and cool ( November- March ). Temperatures in Thailand range from 35C in April to 20C in December . The climate in Northern Thailand is much cooler than in the Central Plains and the South .
Playing golf is possible almost any time of the year , even in the rainy season when downpours are usually short-lived and rarely bring a game to a complete halt . Courses are often quieter during this period , and you can be more selective of where and when you play .
As with most SE Asian courses , the designers pay great attention to drainage , so even after a tropical downpour , the course will dry out under the sun very quickly .
Thailand is blessed with an average of 12 hours of daylight throughout the year , from 6.30 am to 6.30 pm .
