best during these months , the courses are also the busiest and the prices are the highest . Although May and June are hot , especially in HCMC , the weather is excellent in Danang and Hanoi . The courses are also quieter during this period as most of the Vietnam golf holidaymakers from Europe and the USA have long gone home .
From July to September their summer , there are often daily late afternoon rain showers . The courses are also quiet during this period and the daily showers do not overly affect your game . Simply take a bit of shelter and relax , then within 30 minutes the rain will stop , and you will be able to resume play . The drainage here is superb .
October to December is very uncertain . Several times a season strong typhoons slam into the central coast and golf can be washed out for as long as 3-4 days . Make sure you check the weather radar if you are travelling during this period .
GOLF IN VIETNAM DURING PEAK SEASON The peak Vietnam golf season runs from January to March as the weather is cool and dry . During this period , avoid playing on the weekends as the Vietnam golf courses can become very busy . This is when not only the tourists but also the locals and expatriates like to get out on the course . This is particularly true in HCMC and Hanoi , and to a lesser degree in Danang , Nha Trang , and Dalat .
Also , golf courses may charge a weekend surcharge that is easily avoided if you schedule your Vietnam holiday golf on weekdays and use the weekends for sightseeing and relaxing .
BEST TEE-OFF TIME GOLFING IN VIETNAM Most Vietnam golf holidaymakers request early morning tee times as this is what they are used to at home . However , while the weather is good , this entails waking up at 4:00am , or earlier , and getting to the golf course by 6:00am .
Needless to say , this is not an interesting proposition for those on a Vietnam golf holiday . Then there are those who say they want an early tee time but don ’ t want to leave the hotel until around 8:00am . This creates the worst situation as it would entail a 10:00am tee time , or golfing in the hottest part of the day .
Try to avoid teeing off during mid-morning , especially during the hotter months . By beginning early morning , or early afternoon , you will not be affected by the heat so much . In the peak season from January to March it is not so much of an issue as the weather is much cooler . However , the rest of the year is hot and mid-day temperatures can climb to as high as 40 degrees centigrade .
With so much quality golf to choose from and all at affordable prices , Vietnam is breaking onto the international golf scene .
