Choose a destination . Look to your travel advisor for guidance and inspiration in selecting a destination that excites both you and your partner .
Establish a budget . Allow flexibility for travel costs , especially if you ’ re bundling your honeymoon and destination wedding in one trip .
Stay organized . A binder is a good idea for storing all physical paperwork in one place , while a Pinterest board is perfect for organizing online inspiration .
Finalize guest list . Send save-thedates as soon as possible so your guests have enough time to plan too !
Go for a site visit . Many of the questions you have about your wedding can be answered by visiting the resort in person . Getting these things out of the way early will help you be more relaxed and excited about the rest of the planning process , too .
Find your vendors . Most resorts offer on-site photographers , florists and caterers to choose from . If you plan to book elsewhere , this is the time to start making alternate plans .
Create a wedding website . A website is great for communicating the details of your big day . Make sure to include a link to your wedding registry .
Buy your gown and / or suit . Whether you order from a traditional bridal shop or a smaller boutique , it can sometimes take months to receive your gown . Plus , you ’ ll need extra time for alterations .
Start thinking about wedding party attire . Keep the climate of your destination in mind and ensure that everything is set to arrive with plenty of time before departure .
Check your passports . Make sure they won ’ t expire for at least six months before you ’ re set to return home .
