Sandals , Antigua days before the wedding . I couldn ’ t find anyone open to alter my dress . We were in a constant state of not knowing .” Their rustic venue , Hart Homestead , was able to accommodate 100 guests in the end ( much smaller than their original 200-plus guest list ), adhering to COVID guidelines at the time .
“ Everyone was really excited to get out of the house and not be in quarantine for a little bit ,” Kaylee said of the wedding , which ended up being a blast .
Luckily their honeymoon was made less stressful with the help of their travel advisor . They had been in contact since September 2019 and everything was set for a week in St . Lucia . Kaylee and Haddon were moving into their new apartment in Tulsa , where Haddon attends medical school , when their advisor Randi called to let them know that St . Lucia wasn ’ t accepting U . S . visitors . The couple was saddened and unsure of how to proceed , but Randi came to the rescue in record time .
A week later , she called to let them know that they could keep their honeymoon dates but would need to go to Antigua instead of St . Lucia . “ We had been bummed all week but the minute she called us we were thrilled ,” Kaylee said . It turns out that Antigua had been their original destination of choice but had been overbudget . Sandals kindly agreed to cover the additional cost of higher air prices and a room upgrade .
“ There was no way we could have gone on our trip at all if it wasn ’ t for Randi ,” Haddon said . “ She was on the phone with people all those days trying to talk to Sandals to figure out a way for us to be able to go . She really went above and beyond for us .” Randi also provided them with a packet detailing all COVID-19 safety measures they ’ d need to be mindful of while abroad .
Once they arrived at Sandals Antigua , the newlyweds savored a week of luxury . Staff wore masks at all times and seals were placed on the door after cleanings to let guests know that no one else had been in the rooms . Dining options were alternated and there were no buffets . The couple could finally relax .
“ It was like having our own private island ,” Kaylee said . “ We didn ’ t want to leave .” ■
