26 DESTINATION BLISS
What are the biggest trends in bridal style for 2020 / 2021 ?
I love “ side hustle ” looks … the idea of complementing your wedding look with a romper or cocktail dress in a fabric similar to your ceremony gown . We are living in a world of bridal unbridled , so there are no rules in playing up your wardrobe , mixing-and-matching , having something detachable … we are here for all of it !
What advice do you have for brides who are planning a destination wedding ?
My top three tips are : Make the location meaningful for you and your future spouse ! Notify your guests well in advance and consider their ability to travel . And carry your dress on the plane instead of checking it — many flight attendants will show you a space to store it during the flight in order to keep it upright and preserved .

What ’ s the biggest mistake women make when picking out their wedding attire ?
Shopping for a wedding dress can be daunting and full of pressure . My advice is to first and foremost think of it like the greatest day of dress-up in your life ! Have some fun first and allow yourself to not be confined by too many limitations with regard to silhouette , fabric and embellishment . You never know what might dazzle you off your sparkle toes .
Do you have a philosophy when it comes to accessorizing for a wedding ?
I want a bride to feel like it ’ s her sparkly Super Bowl and she gets to make up her own rules . It ’ s her time to shine and embrace that wow-factor moment . Adding an individualized touch or fabulous accessory is always fun and I never shy away from a unique style moment . Then again , sometimes your pearly whites , a glass of champagne and your significant other on your arm are the only accessories needed !
What trends are you seeing in bridal party style ?
Bridesmaids are evolving from a coordinated afterthought into an orchestra of style and versatility . There are a ton of mix-and-matching parties , playing with varying shades of the same color , and hints of sparkle . Changing up the game is the new trend ; like putting the bride in color and the maids in all ivory / white .
Have any recent looks stood out for you ?
We worked with Sabrina Bryan from “ Dancing with The Stars ” to create a custom wedding gown for her . Sabrina was very transparent . She loved the Lorelei , one of our iconic pieces which has been around for a few seasons now . I wanted her to feel like she could extend beyond the range of the collection . Sabrina tried on the Sloane gown — which includes iridescent beadwork with an overskirt , a “ two-in-one ” that she loved . Sabrina was torn between the idea of going with one , and I said , ‘ Why don ’ t we take your favorite elements of what you want and give you two completely different looks ?’ So , we took the iridescent alabaster beadwork from Sloane and reincorporated the embroidery and named it the ‘ Sabrina .’ We also trickled it into the skirt so she had a little more continuity , upping the ante on the sparkle game .
