Be mindful of the
climate differences
for destination
weddings, especially
if the location is
tropical. Cosmetic
products can react
differently in these
conditions. For very
sunny locations, it’s
important to first
apply a moisturizer
with sunscreen and
then your primer/
foundation before the
rest of your products.
2
Make sure to stay
hydrated in tropical
locations. The heat
and humidity can
impact your skin
and it’s important to
stay comfortable and
healthy.

Follow dietary
guidelines. The food
or water sources in
certain countries
may differ from the
United States. If you
consume water/food
that affects you, it
could give you rashes
or make you feel sick,
break out or sweat
more.
Consider getting
specialty items
— such as false
eyelashes — done
before you travel.
Lash extensions can
last up to several
weeks. Some looks
and products simply
are hard to do
yourself!
Prepare in advance.
There are many
destinations that are
not going to have easy
access to an array of
products. Resorts or
island destinations are
often far from major
cities and stores.
If you are doing the
makeup yourself,
consult with a
makeup artist who
has done destination
weddings. Every
summer I do
consultations for
brides who are
getting married
abroad to help them
be confident to do
their own look.
Pack double! Too
often, airports can
lose or misplace
a bag. Pack your
normal cosmetics
bag in your main
luggage, but also have
a mini kit in a smaller
carry-on bag. Make
sure any products
you are packing
in your carry-on
meet the standard
requirements so you
don’t have to discard
it at security.
