Cosmetic products can react differently in these conditions. For very sunny locations, it’s important to first apply a moisturizer with sunscreen and then your primer/ foundation before the rest of your products. 2 Make sure to stay hydrated in tropical locations. The food or water sources in certain countries may differ from the United States. If you consume water/food that affects you, it could give you rashes or make you feel sick, break out or sweat more. Consider getting specialty items — such as false eyelashes — done before you travel. Lash extensions can last up to several weeks. Some looks and products simply are hard to do yourself! Prepare in advance. There are many destinations that are not going to have easy access to an array of products. Resorts or island destinations are often far from major cities and stores. If you are doing the makeup yourself, consult with a makeup artist who has done destination weddings. Every summer I do consultations for brides who are getting married abroad to help them be confident to do their own look. Pack double! Too often, airports can lose or misplace a bag. Pack your normal cosmetics bag in your main luggage, but also have a mini kit in a smaller carry-on bag. Make sure any products you are packing in your carry-on meet the standard requirements so you don’t have to discard it at security.
