Sanchez has based himself on the Kenyan island of
Lamu after falling in love with the area, and his work
on the island has understood native Swahili culture
and practices at the highest levels. Working with
Charity Anidan, Sanchez has built a series of buildings
for children across East Africa
Tudor Apartments (Mombasa, Kenya)
Encased in a mashrabiya (wooden lattice) shell, the
high rise Tudor Apartments use the same approach that
Sanchez developed on Lamu combined with a distinctly 21st century form.
