Adobe Live interviews Wonjun Jeong, Hongik University, Korea, Fine Art— Photography Category Winner. Since becoming a competition that 'launches student careers', ADAA winners and student participants have had their careers hot-wired and are making a name for themselves in the design world. Why the Adobe Design Achievement Awards matter to Educational Members The competition was reoriented to the goal of 'launching student careers' almost three years ago, a number of not only winners but also participants in general have had their careers hot-wired and are making a name for themselves in the design world. The immense exposure and networking opportunities afforded by the ADAA as benefits have propelled young designers forward, providing that vital magic ingredient in helping them land their first meaningful roles in their burgeoning design careers. Students of ico-D's Educational Members were particularly successful in 2017 with two winners coming from School of Visual Arts in New York City, USA and one from Hongik University in Korea while there was also a winner from ArtCenter College of Design, USA in the Commercial Graphic Design/Animation and Fine Art Photography and Commercial Photography categories, respectively. There were also numerous semi- finalists, finalists, special designations and honourable mentions from many of our other members with Greenside Design Center in South Africa reaching the top ten in terms of volume of entries. Significant entries also came from Istanbul Bilgi University, Turkey, Central St. Martin's University of the Arts, UK and Emily Carr Institute in Canada. Have a look at winning works by Wonjun Jeong, Brian Liu, Luke Guyer and Grina Choi. All the entries can be viewed at the ADAA showcase. Adobe frequently features articles about students and their schools and displays all entries on the ADAA website and throughout their various social media channels and blogs, giving massive exposure to not only the students but also their institutions. ico-D Educational Members also contributed to the judging and mentorship panels and we welcome more pre-selection panellists always. Lastly, 2017/2018 sees the start of our Mentorship pilot project with agencies across four continents mentoring students in-house and giving students a unique opportunity to work with industry experts on real world projects adding yet another benefit from participating in ADAA.
