LONDON BUILD PREVIEW

IT ' S DARK BY FOUR. WHO ' S WATCHING YOUR SITE?

When the clocks go back on 25 October, most sites lose one of their best security measures overnight: daylight. By December, it is dark for around sixteen hours a day, and with weekends and the Christmas shutdown added in, a site can stand empty and unlit for long stretches.
When the clocks go back on 25 October, most sites lose one of their best security measures overnight: daylight. By December, it is dark for around sixteen hours a day, and with weekends and the Christmas shutdown added in, a site can stand empty and unlit for long stretches. Materials are stockpiled ahead of the break, generators and fuel are on hand, and plant stays in place for longer as bad weather slows progress. For organised gangs, a dark, quiet compound full of high-value kit is an easy target.
THE COST THAT NEVER MAKES THE CLAIM FORM
More than 11,000 plant thefts are reported in the UK each year, the true number is thought to be two to three times higher, and only 9 to 21 per cent of stolen plant is ever recovered. Yet as Clearway’ s white paper, The true cost of plant theft on UK construction sites, sets out, the equipment itself is often only a fraction of the bill.
Replacement plant hired in at short notice, operatives standing idle, programme slippage and missed milestones can bring liquidated damages. Premiums and excesses rise at renewal, insurers look closely at what security was in place before they pay out, and a contractor known for losing time to site crime is a harder one to appoint again. All of this combined, means construction theft is estimated to cost the UK industry circa £ 1 billion a year.
ON STAND G95
Clearway will be demonstrating four core technologies built for the hours when nobody is on site, and for the people who are.
The inView Solar CCTV Tower needs no mains power or cabling, so it can be deployed quickly and moved as the site changes. AI analytics separate genuine intruders from foxes, loose sheeting and passing headlights, and every tower is monitored around the clock by Clearway’ s own NSI Gold Cat II Alarm Receiving Centre, so incidents are dealt with as they happen rather than discovered on Monday morning.
inView Detect is a wireless, solar and battery powered intrusion detection unit that one person can put in place. Each unit covers a 15 metre zone with four HDR cameras, sending photo-verified alarms to the monitoring centre and triggering a 113dB siren and strobe lights. Units link to one another and to the tower, so coverage grows with the site without any cable runs.
inSite Wearables, Clearway’ s body-worn cameras, give security officers and site teams working in the dark a visible deterrent and a reliable record of what happened.
New for London Build, inView inSite is Clearway’ s AI incident intelligence platform. It reviews footage from inSite Wearables and produces a structured incident summary, with the key moments flagged, in under 60 seconds, so supervisors can go straight to what matters while every decision stays in human hands.
Winter won’ t wait for the security budget to be signed off. Visit Clearway on stand G95 to see the technology working, talk through your own sites with the team and pick up a copy of the white paper.
