Designer at Et Lorem, Jade Jones, recently designed a luxury kitchen with a strong connection to the outdoors, inspired by the property’ s riverside location and large garden, which is completely immersed in nature.
The Et Lorem kitchen seamlessly blends with the natural landscape and river beyond to bring light, movement, and an added layer of personal enrichment into this open-plan kitchen living space, which carries right through to the outside entertainment deck. Jade explains,“ Originally, the homeowners along with their architect, designed the glass extension to make the garden feel an integral part of the home. With expanses of glazing, we were able to remove the visual boundary between inside and out, drawing natural light across the kitchen while framing mature trees and planting as living artwork.”
Every design decision, from the restrained material palette to the uninterrupted sightlines, allows nature to become the defining feature rather than competing with it. The kitchen living space now provides a wonderful place to enjoy the evening sun at the rear of the house, with beautiful views over the river from the deck.
The island was inspired by the bridges that cross the nearby river, creating a sculptural focal point that also serves a practical purpose in the main kitchen space. Positioned to extend the kitchen into the glass extension, it encourages conversation, quiet moments and shared meals while remaining visually
