ULTRA-FIN UFH ASSISTS QUEST FOR NET ZERO STANDARD

Ultra-Fin UK Ltd. has successfully completed an underfloor heating installation at St Paul’ s Church, Covent Garden— known as the Actors’ Church— proving that major energy improvements can be made to a Grade I listed building without altering its historic fabric. The project, completed under the Church of England’ s Net Zero Carbon programme, prepares the building for future renewable heating, including air source heat pumps.
After meeting through the Westminster Churches Net Zero Forum, Ultra-Fin collaborated closely with Parish Administrator Phil Hunt and Revd. Simon Grigg. Due to the heritage sensitivity of the site, Ultra-Fin took on full responsibility as manufacturer, supplier and installer, producing a 250-page specification to support approval.
The system covers 2,900 sq. m in 12 heating zones, with Rockwool insulation and PhotonWrap membrane improving heat efficiency. Early results show the church now warms more quickly at a lower operating temperature, delivering comfort, efficiency and long-term sustainability with minimal disruption to the historic structure.

VENT-AXIA WELCOMES HEALTHY HOMES

Leading British ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia has welcomed the Government’ s publication of its Healthy Homes Standard, a set of design requirements and good-practice guidance for building homes that is designed to support the delivery of healthier living environments. Created for use by Homes England and the people they work with, such as builders, designers, and planners,‘ Healthy Homes- a foundation for healthier and resilient communities’ is a useful tool for all housing providers and developers to ensure new homes are designed to be healthy and follow good design practice.
The design of new homes plays a vital role in preventing many avoidable health problems. Ensuring good indoor air quality( IAQ), comfortable temperatures, plenty of natural light, and energy efficiency is key to creating homes that minimise the risk of respiratory conditions, overheating, and stress-related health problems. A Healthy Home refers to a new dwelling, whether a house, bungalow, apartment or other type of home, designed to support long-term physical and mental wellbeing, while supporting people to live active and fulfilling lives.
