The result was a happy middle ground between the two mood boards, to ensure that both Sophia and Khuram received a kitchen that aligned with both of their ideals.
TACKLING BOTTLENECKING
One potential problem which was considered from the very beginning was bottlenecking- a point of congestion in the kitchen where people would congregate and crowd the space. This was a concern for both Sophia and Khuram, therefore it was a key consideration for the kitchen plan.
This meant the final kitchen needed to be a flowing space which would avoid this when more people were added to the room. Dimensions were therefore crucial and, with a plan developed and agreed upon, the space would incorporate an island that transformed it into a welcoming area for family gatherings and traditional Indian cooking.
“ Key to the clients’ plans, we decided not to include seating at the island as they thought this may discourage guests from sitting at the dining table. Furthermore, a utility space was added into the middle room of the property enabling them to store items they wished,” Emilie explains.
TAILORING THE SPACE TO SPECIFIC NEEDS
The kitchen required for the project was one that would both look great but also facilitate regular, intricate cooking. The client therefore opted for a German-engineered kitchen from Kutchenhaus.
Kitchen expert, Rob Cash of Kutchenhaus Bristol, worked together with Emilie and the client to deliver a space which fit the layout dimensions. The kitchen selected was the Kutchenhaus Easytouch which featured a standout kitchen island and things such as large drawers to store the many pots and pans used in traditional Indian cooking.
The new kitchen layout featured a new sink area alongside a dishwasher, with the spaces between different items in the kitchen meticulously planned.
Rob comments:“ We were able to design and deliver a bespoke kitchen, made exactly to fit the client’ s demands. The fact that we could do this in a short space of time was very appealing to them and meant the project could progress at pace.”
