The UK Government is committed to building around 1.5 million new homes
by 2022 and there are major plans for new housing in every part of the UK.
All new homes should be future-proofed for low-carbon
heating, and by 2025 at the latest no new homes should be
connecting to the gas grid.
In a recent document released by the Committee on
Climate Change (CCC) on the creation of low carbon and
sustainable homes, existing homes can help meet the
challenges of climate change by switching to highly energy
efficient appliances so the country can meet its target of
a 15% reduction in the energy used for heating existing
buildings by 2030.
