Belvin builds UK ‘Home of the Year’
“A worthy and standout winner”
One of the latest grand designs built by
Lincolnshire based Belvin Construction
has been named ‘Best Individual New
Home’ at the 2019 LABC Building
Excellence Awards.
Barrow House, at Hatcliffe, is a
bespoke, contemporary home that’s set
within the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The house was designed by ID
Architects in Grimsby and built by
Belvin Construction.
The LABC Building Excellence
Awards focus on the very best in
technical innovation and construction
quality, helping to raise the level of
construction quality across England and
Wales.
The panel of expert judges said:
“The immaculate detailing and
rigorous environmental strategy
of this uncompromisingly modern
home impressed the judges - and its
distinctiveness in appearance and
performance made it a worthy and
stand-out winner.”
Barrow House was one of 15 winning
projects, chosen by a panel of
construction industry experts. Other
winning projects include Sherwood
Forest RSPB Visitor Centre, the SS Great
Britain in Bristol and Coal Drops Yard in
King’s Cross.
The partially subterranean Barrow
House emulates a modern barn and
was constructed using innovative
construction techniques and finished
with a range of high quality finishes
and detailing. The house adopts a huge
range of sustainable features such as a
ground source heat pump and a roof top
wildflower meadow.

Steve Turner, Managing Director of
Belvin Construction said: “This was an
amazing project to be part of and we
couldn’t be more proud of our work.
It’s a very modern building, but I think
the design and the materials suit the
environment perfectly.
