Doors, Windows & Fittings
Luxury New Build Project – Pembroke Road
Having previously renovated their
house in 2014, this homeowner had
planned to install a replication of
their previous windows and doors
with accurate attention to detail.
Only the front wall was retained after
the renovation process. This was a
stipulation of their successful planning
application for a large extension to the
rear.
The client wanted to be sympathetic
to the original building and use slim
profiled Georgian casement windows
in order to retain and complement
the architectural design. As well as
Georgian casement windows, a large
bank of doors was also requested which
included Double French Doors and
Bi-Fold Doors. With the size of the
luxurious home being approximately
4000sq ft., there were a few challenges
in this luxury new build project that
needed to be addressed.
Low-Maintenance
Casement Windows to
Meet Luxurious Extension
Requirements
One of the main challenges, and specific
requirements of the brief, that this
luxury new build project faced was
to replicate the exact profiles of the
previous windows and doors used in the
old house. The 28 Georgian Casement
Windows needed to have slim profiles,
consistent sight lines, narrow glazing
bar designs consisting of durable
materials. The homeowners also wanted
to mock concrete window cills using an
alternative and sustainable material.
The rear of the home required 3 Double
French Doors and 2 Bi-Folding Doors
that would enhance both aesthetical
design and ease of operation. The
tall Bi-Fold Door needed to achieve
a unique specification of 2700mm in
height.
Marvin Architectural’s
Unmatched Window Design
Solutions
Aside from being recommended by the
architect who has used us on several
others projects in the area, Marvin
Architectural was selected due to
our ability to achieve slim profiles,
consistent sight lines and a 16mm
glazing bars design which were all
possible with a profiled timber interior
that Marvin Windows and Doors offer.
Marvin aluminium clad wood range
offered a sustainable product which
provides great architectural detail. Our
clad casings are made of ultra-durable
32
extruded aluminium, which features
a factory-applied finish that resists
chalking, fading, pitting, corrosion and
marring.
With the ability to deliver Bi-Fold
Door openings of 6400mm x 2700mm,
Marvin Architectural was well equipped
to provide the specific requirement of
2700mm height for this luxury new
build project. This contributed to a
traditional design with a contemporary
operation that allowed the room to
infuse with fresh air and spectacular
views.
The solid wood in the panels and frames
of the doors provided an elegant,
crafted look and allowed for weather-
tight closure. Low E II with Argon gas
was standard with the glazing.The
thermal and structural properties of
wood combined with the right glazing
make Marvin Windows and Doors the
optimal choice for energy efficiency.
To replicate the concrete window
cills, we supplied aluminium cills in a
different colour to the window to mock
a concrete cill.
