What are the benefits of wood panels
behind plasterboard dry lining?
Plasterboard in itself is not suitable for
bearing weight so, if the wall is intended for
holding weight over 15kg - such as TVs, sinks,
cabinets, railings or similar - then a structural
material such as wood panels should be used
behind the plasterboard to hold the weight
Why is OSB a better choice than plywood?
OSB is an engineered, wood-based panel
made from flakes of wood mixed with a resin
and then pressed. This method of manufacture
means that the panel does not contain any
defects of natural wood – such as the knots or
voids that plywood would contain. This means
that fixtures can be inserted anywhere on the
panel without concern of hitting a weak spot.
