Four Steps to Creating the Dream
Dressing Room
A bedroom with an accompanying dressing room is often
high up on a homeowner’s wish list. Yet it’s often considered
a far-fetched luxury that is only achievable if a home has
space to spare. This is a common misconception as with the
right layout and clever storage solutions, the dream walk-in
wardrobe can become a reality. Here are our four simple steps
to follow… 2.
Consider the practicalities
1. This will provide a much clearer picture of the type of
storage options that are required. Modular storage systems
are so flexible that they fit to any space for any purpose,
allowing you to choose from shelf or drawer combinations
to match your specific needs.
A dressing is rendered useless if it isn’t able to store
belongings in a practical and tidy manner. Start by making
an inventory of all your possessions, including clothes,
shoes and accessories, as well as any other items you plan
on storing away such as coats or extra bedding.
Pick the perfect spot
If your home does not have the option of a separate room,
consider utliising the empty space along a wall in the
bedroom or section off an alcove.
3.
Sliding doors are an effective option for partitioning off
the space and can make the walk-in wardrobe available to
almost any bedroom.
Let there be light
Having appropriate lighting in a dressing room is essential.
Bright overhead lights can often cast an unflattering
shadow across the face and body, so instead, opt for bulbs
that evoke a soft, luminous glow. Consider incorporating
the glamour of a hanging pendent in the centre of the
space or installing task lighting around a vanity mirror
which is ideal for make up application.
In particular, mirrored sliding doors can double up as a
full-length mirror which reflect light around the room,
making it appear larger than it actually is. Sliding doors
also help maximise the available space and give you a
sleek, contemporary look.
