Abloy UK Secures Spire
Manchester Hospital
Security expert Abloy UK has supplied Spire
Manchester Hospital with PROTEC2 CLIQ®
and Traka 21 advanced key management
systems to improve the security of medicines
and increase nursing efficiency.
Spire Manchester Hospital specified a
combination of PROTEC2 CLIQ keys and
cylinders which were easily retrofitted
to a range of Bristol Maid drug cabinets
throughout the hospital, including theatres,
out-patients and several wards. Staff CLIQ
keys were housed in Traka 21 key cabinets
fitted across the wards.
Dawn Davies, Matron and Head of Clinical
Services at Spire Manchester Hospital, said:
“When designing and commissioning a brand
new private hospital, we wanted to ensure
we had equipment at the forefront of medical
technology. The systems from Abloy give us
enhanced security measures and management
of controlled drug storage and access.”

The Chocolate Quarter, one of
the UK’s most stylish retirement
complexes, is now protected by
industry-leading fire panels from
Advanced.
Originally the home of Fry’s chocolate, the
iconic collection of 1920s buildings has
been sympathetically developed by KWL
Architects and Andrew Wilson Developments
for Bristol-based charity, the St Monica Trust.
The result is an impressive complex of
high-spec apartments, elegant living spaces
and a range of leisure facilities. As well
as protecting the multi-tenant retirement
apartments and care home, the Advanced
system also covers a doctors’ surgery, offices,
spa, retail space and car park.
MFS designed, installed and commissioned
the Advanced system, which comprises a
network of 19 MxPro 5 single-loop, four-loop
and repeater panels with Hochiki smoke
and heat detectors, multi-sensors and heat
detection cable.

SAFETY CONCERNS RAISED
BY WERNERCO OVER MIXING
TOWER COMPONENTS
Leading supplier of access towers, WernerCo,
is highlighting the serious safety risks
associated with mixing product components
when building towers.
This follows concerns being raised over the
practice of mixing components from different
manufacturers when erecting towers. As a
result WernerCo, which manufactures the
marketing-leading brand BoSS, is urging
people to be aware of the dangers around
building a non-compliant structure.
Towers should comply with specific
standards. When combining components
from different manufacturers, a new structure
has been created that has not been tested
to EN1004:2004 and, therefore, does not
comply.
