Design The developer typically sells the completed project to an investor far more often than placing it on the market. We have been doing well so far but we also know that we have to contin- ue improving. My satisfaction at this AGM was also highlighted in the interest by the at- tendance of representatives from the leading Authorities in our country as well as from the two main political parties in Parliament, that is the Gov- ernment and the Opposition, with a good mix of MPs who have interests or responsibilities directly concerned with development. I also appreciated the very positive comments of both the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition on the MDA and its WWW.DESIGNANDBUILD.COM.MT The demand is high so it is improbable that a lease to the Govern- ment’s Lands Authority within the ‘Skema Kiri’ terms would be accepted IN REWARDING SOCIAL HOUSING INITITATIVES not they are only involved in erect- ing the development to then sell it off to someone else. So they are not the ones who are taking the risks in the end. This could well be why the Prime Minister had to express his surprise that there was less of a posi- tive response than was expected from developers, to the Government’s ‘Skema Kiri’; a guaranteed ten-year rental agreement in return for a low- ering of rental values. Though there are developers who keep their projects for themselves so as to turn them into short, medium and long-term lets, more often than These are good times for those with properties to rent.
