decadent cake decorations, season two
celebrates the sense of community,
supporting relationships and random
acts of kindness that have helped to
turn Charly’s Bakery into a tourist hot
spot and wedding cake Mecca for fans
from all over the world.
In a nutshell
To get an idea of why Charly’s Bakery
is so popular, browse through the photo
gallery on their website, but remember
that seeing isn’t as good as tasting. So
next time you’re in Cape Town, visit the
bakery at 38 Canterbury Street, District
Six, and don’t leave without eating at
least one of their chocolate cupcakes!
While Charly has passed on – he died
last year after a battle with cancer –
Jacqui and their daughters Alex, Dani
and Roche, make sure his name and his
delicious sweet things live on.
What others say …
“It almost feels like one of those
fantastic little bakeries hidden in some
obscure part of the world. Everything is
laid out before you and you literally pick
out what you want.” – Lonely Planet
“Bright, bold, unbelievable fun …
Known for incredible cakes, for the
most brilliant eye candy that actually IS
candy, trot on downtown to the city’s
east precinct and stuff your face with
cupcakes that will fight for attention
from your eyes and your mouth.”

“If you haven’t tried their cakes yet,
take my word for it and get there! It’s
simply too good to miss out on! On a
side note, I must say that as a born
and bred Namibian, I am so proud that
this huge establishment started out in a
small bakery in my home country!”
